Southside Baptist Church was constituted on January 26, 1947 with seventy-eight charter members. Dr. Oland Wilson was the first pastor and served sixteen years. The church has had seven pastors in its sixty-year history. Southside grew from a small number of spirit-filled Christians and God has blessed the commitment and dedication of the members through the years. Buildings have been built to accommodate our membership, staff members have been hired to minister to our congregation, and tithes and offerings have been used for missions and benevolence and to spread the Word of Jesus Christ to our community, state and the world. Southside continues to grow today as we strive to carry on by building on our past and moving forward as a family of faith to serve the spiritual needs in Dothan.
